IN THESE TIMES

tending grief and rage together this election season

FUNDRAISER FOR GAZA

Join us this election season for collective communion – to the grief and rage living in our bodies born out of the injustice of the current world.

together we will share our truth, be present with what is alive in us, skillshare practices to support our emotional tending, and let ourselves be nourished by community connections. we will share plants, embodiment practices, reflection exercises and more to support us all in deepening our resiliency for the long work ahead of us. grief and rage are powerful forces, and we can collaborate with them (rather than resist them) in our efforts to organize and agitate for a just world.

come if you are wanting the extra support during this farce of an election season. come with your heavy feelings. come with your lived experience. come with your feelings, and be open to hearing others.

let this group be an anchor in a time when activation will be running high. let the group support you in these times of intense stress. let the knowing that you are not alone in feeling grief and anger during this season tend some of the rough edges. this is an intense time, in an intense world. we don’t have to do it all alone, and can even nourish each other when gathering around shared emotional experiences. let yourself be nourished as you contribute to a wider web of community nourishment.

come as you are. you are welcome here. we are in this together.

The Shape of Our Time Together

We will spend the first two sessions focusing on grief: what it feels like, how it lives in our bodies, what we already know about grief and how we tend it; then we will share practices, tips, ideas for tending our grief.

The third and fourth sessions will be focused on holy rage in a similar fashion.

During our sessions together, we will engage in personal reflection, embodied practice, community dialogue, and more.  We will talk about plant kin that can support us in our processes, as well as secular and spiritual practice. We will utilize large group discussion as well as small group discussion in break out rooms. This is a non-hierarchical learning environment – meaning that while I will be sharing some of my own experience, so too will each of you be invited to share yours. Learning and wisdom will flow in all directions.

In between sessions, folks will have invitations to practice shared at the end of the session and sent out via email. As always, take what resonates and leave the rest.

Our fifth and final session will be a coming together to honor all that we have learned about ourselves and each other in the past month. We will share what worked for us, what didn’t, what we learned and still have to learn, and relish in the togetherness of it all.

At the end of our time together, it is my hope that you will leave having learned one or two ways of tending grief and rage that are appropriate for you and can support you in the coming winter ahead, as our political climate continues to strain us all. I hope that these practices can support you in continuing to work towards justice and change in the days, months, and years ahead as we dream toward liberation. It will take time, but we will win.

Questions and Answers

WILL THIS BE VERY INTENSE?

  • This will be a very gentle container in which intense feelings will potentially be swirling.
  • All practices will be invitational (meaning you can feel into if something feels supportive and appropriate for you)
  • We will be exploring our personal grief and rage, so we can choose how deep to go or how much we want to dive into it at this time, given our capacity; you always have the choice to go at the pace that’s right for you
  • Together after touching on our personal experiences, the focus will be on sharing experiences, skills, plant relationships, practices (including embodiment and non-body based), and ritual invitations around tending the grief and rage that lives within us all
  • This will be a firmly held facilitated container so that the intention for the offering remains on course
  • We will take breaks and practice titration!
  • Throughout you will be invited to care for yourself, participate as is appropriate, and practice self-responsibility

STAYING CONNECTED

My practice is slow, intentional and intimate. I’m not on social media so much; I do occasionally share things through my instagram, @hawthornandyew. However, the best way to stay in touch and hear whats new is to sign up for my newsletter HOME/BODY.

You’ll hear from me on a weekly-ish basis, and these notes will contain info on upcoming workshops and programs, new zines, things my friends are working on, and more alongside long form writing about things i’m learning about, feeling about, questioning and embodying. tune in for musings on herbs, relationship with the world, embodying our values, dreaming and moving towards a more just world, and the practices that will can help get us there.
