COME TOGETHER
a long covid support group
join in queer long covid community for mutual support, skill & infosharing, and relationship weaving!
we come together to share skills and information on navigating long covid. over the course of two months, we will gather to process our experiences, share what we have learned, try new things, and be together. we will talk herbs, food, emotional support practices, embodiment practices, creativity, grief & rage, structural shifts, lists and other logistical supports, surviving under capitalism and more.
come with your feelings and your bodies truth. come with your lived experience. come to hear the experiences of others. come to share what you know about your own wise body, and come ready to learn from the wisdom of others. come to find similarities and resonance, differences in individual experiences, and mutual respect throughout.
let this group be an anchor. let the group support you in these times of intense stress. let the knowing that you are not alone in this tend some of the rough edges. long covid is intense on its own; add in a govt supported culture of covid denial and it becomes even more fraught. we come together to remember that we don’t have to do it all alone; we support each other reciprocally when gathering around shared emotional experiences. let yourself be nourished as you also contribute to a wider web of community nourishment.
come as you are. you are welcome here. we are in this together.

The Shape of Our Time Together
Each session will include info & skill shares from the facilitators, peer space for participants to share their experiences with similar practices, and then lots of space to share & connect around the realities of living with Long-C.
We will move through specific themes each week, including but not limited to: rest, tending grief, nourishment, supporting our immunity, community building, and building resiliency for the long term. Sessions will include practical therapeutic tips, a range of strategies to try on and experiment with, and herbal supports throughout.
This is a group space, where learning will flow in all directions. Everything shared is invitational, and folks can take what resonates and leave the rest. We come together to share our personal wisdom, and offer it to each other as a gift to Long C community; we come together to connect around living with Long C in a culture of Covid denial, and share the emotional impacts of that too.
This is a space where we connect, share wisdom, learn from each other, and offer mutual support.

about max
Max Ruin (they/them) is a white, queer, trans, mad, disabled, chronically ill, herbalist, therapist, tattoo artist, mediator, and crisis intervention specialist living with long covid on occupied Lenape land. They are a bookworm, love to ride their bike when their body allows it, and are always happy to nerd out about nature, plants, all things queer, mutual aid, DIY, disability justice, ritualized tattoo and body reclamation, and what role spirituality can play in anarchy. Their work centers queer, trans, and gender expansive folks, is adamantly anti-racist, anti-zionist, and anti-capitalist, and they have a dedicated practice of dismantling white supremacy and oppressive ideologies both in themself and in any space they facilitate. They operate through a lens of interspecies connection, abolition, and harm reduction. You can find out more at www.anywaywecaherbs.com and www.expressyourselftherapynyc.com/max

STAYING CONNECTED
My practice is slow, intentional and intimate. I’m not on social media so much; I do occasionally share things through my instagram, @hawthornandyew. However, the best way to stay in touch and hear whats new is to sign up for my newsletter HOME/BODY.
You’ll hear from me on a weekly-ish basis, and these notes will contain info on upcoming workshops and programs, new zines, things my friends are working on, and more alongside long form writing about things i’m learning about, feeling about, questioning and embodying. tune in for musings on herbs, relationship with the world, embodying our values, dreaming and moving towards a more just world, and the practices that will can help get us there.
